Basic Installation
| Intelli-SMART should be installed using
the supplied Installation Program. The CD Rom containing Intelli-SMART should autorun. Once the Menu is displayed, choose "Install
Intelli-SMART". The Installation Wizard will guide you through the installation. Intelli-SMART requires certain system drivers to be installed to function correctly. Windows 95/98 requires that SMARTVSD.VXD be installed and registered. This can be accomplished by copying the SMARTVSD.VXD file from the Windows 95/98 CD Rom to the Windows\System\ directory. You will have to reboot the system. If your system has SMART compliant SCSI drives, you may need to install or update the WINASPI drivers on your system. The ASPI driver handles communications between the SCSI controller and the system. The driver is not normally required for Hard Disk Drives to function if no other SCSI devices are present. Many drive manufacturers have this available on their website. If you do not have them, you can also download them from the LC Technology Website (http://www.LC-Tech.Com/tools/aspiinst.zip). If the WINASPI Driver is not installed, Intelli-SMART will not be able to monitor the S.M.A.R.T. Alerts issued by the drive, nor will drive information be displayed. All other functions of Intelli-SMART are not affected. Intelli-SMART should be installed using the supplied Installation Program. The CD Rom containing Intelli-SMART should autorun.
